While editing, I am often jumping place to place in the file for any number of resons. Getting back to where I started used to mean setting a mark with “m.” so that I could find my way back with “`.“. It turns out that VIM has something already built in to solve this problem.
from vimtutor:
5.To go back to where you came from press CTRL-O (Keep Ctrl down while
pressing the letter o). Repeat to go back further. CTRL-I goes forward.
…very handy!
